so, once again, i have waited until the last minute to decide to be involved in something. this time, though, there’s no begging for votes on my part…so lucky you
anyway, madebyrae.com has an annual spring top sewalong and this year, i finally decided to submit a top (or two or three). they were all super easy & super quick to make…since those are my biggest “requirements” for any sewing pattern, i was happy to make them. and now, i’m even happier to have them made & ready to wear through the rest of spring and probably summer, too!
ok, so, here goes…this top (below) was made using the sisboom “devon peasant top” pattern. i used fuschia knit (sheet) fabric and added a band of elastic to the sleeves & a couple rows to the bottom & top. it’s so much cuter than i thought it would be & very comfortable to wear. i already have another one cut, in a different fabric, and will be setting to work on it within the next day or two.
this one (again, below) is made with the same fuschia fabric (a twin sheet set goes a long way). this time i used the “la dolce vita blouse” pattern from the book “sew what you love” by tanya whelan. *(side note: i absolutely love this book! the patterns are great & the instructions are easy to follow)* anyway, i altered the pattern a bit (mainly because i didn’t pay as close attention to the finishing instructions as i maybe should have), but i am very pleased with the end results! this is definitely going into my “make again & again” folder!
and finally, this one (once more, below) is definitely my favorite of them all! i really, really, really (did i say really enough?) love this pattern! the end result is a fabulously comfy top that i could wear every day…once i make a ton more, that is! it’s another one from “sew what you love” and this one is called “everyday knit tunic”. i made a couple of these a few months again in the original sleeve length version & loved them so much that i decided to try them with shorter sleeves so i could enjoy it in spring & summer, too. i think it turned out great & already have the fabric lined up to make at least 2, if not 3 more! this one was made with jersey knit fabric that i picked up last week from the new joann store that’s open in west ashley (by the way, i am so over-joyed, excited to finally have a joann’s less than 30 miles away!). anyhow, i absolutely love the end result & can’t wait to make up more!
so, that’s it…i’ll be adding them to the flickr sewalong group today! i’m a bit nervous, but this is becoming the year that i step out of my comfort zone so i’m taking that step!
oh & i’m chugging right along with my book challenge…slower than i like, but life sometimes gets in the way of reading, so there’s nothing i can really do about that. i’m still confident that i can get 5 more books read by june 4 (i did finish “cutting for stone” and loved it). then i’ll move onto my next self-imposed challenge…maybe more sewing related next time
since i do love that so!

since i am (still) so very computer/blog illiterate, i have pasted the pic in for the sew-along that i’m finally going to participate in this year. (can’t figure out how to link it…think i’ve had too much wine to really think straight about it).
