more tops for spring & summer

on May 27, 2013

so, with the spring top sewalong coming to a close today, i wanted to share just a few more of the tops i made for spring & summer. truthfully, i’m really glad i participated in the sewalong this year and kinda wish i had done so in years past as well. but, there’s no changing the past, so i’m happy to move on to the present!

i found renewed interest in making clothes for myself & now have a tank pattern that i love and another one that i’ll like more once i figure out darts…darts may be the sewing death of me!

i still don’t like taking pictures of myself, but since that’s probably not ever going to change, i’m getting more use to being in front of the camera, rather than behind it.

and with all that being said, here are my final “entries” for the “made by rae spring top sewalong 2013”

grey striped tunic front view i made another shortened sleeve everyday tunic, this one with grey & silver striped knit. i left all the seams unfinished, being that it’s knit i’m not afraid of it fraying. and i still think this is one of my favorite shirts…both to make and to wear! i just love it :)!

green wiksten tankpurple wiksten tank lastly, my new favorite pattern for summer-time…the Wiksten tank. I absolutely love this pattern, i made 3 within the first 2 days of purchasing the pattern, and i already bought more fabric for the expressed purpose of making many more of these tanks. They are super easy to put together & i feel very comfortable wearing them!

the green one was made from shirting fabric that i’ve had for years and finally decided to cut into!  i’m very glad that i did…it is so comfortable! and i have enough leftover that i can make myself a dress, as well…can’t wait!

the purple is also made from fabric i had on hand, purchased many years ago for something else, but finally put to use with my new favorite pattern! i did make a bit of a change to the hemline on this one, rather than have the front & back curved like the original, i used a less curved option that i traced from the other tank pattern i purchased, grainline’s tiny-pocket tank.

so, now i’m off to add these to the flickr pool, enjoy my new tops, & get my sewing groove back on so i can make more clothes!

~oh, one final side note…hopefully, my neighbors didn’t pay too much attention to my brief photo-session in our backyard. i tried to be quick with the self-portraits & had a tanktop under the shirts so i wasn’t flashing innocent eyes when i was changing tops!~
