my maybe-not-so-strange addiction

on July 12, 2013

so what started off as a way to read a few more books this year than last, has turned into an all out addiction/obsession with books & of course, reading them.

in the last 6 months i’ve read 17 books total…12 in the last 2 months…3 in the last week!

and while i am very happy & proud of this accomplishment on my part…i also know that i am becoming addicted. granted, in the grand scheme of things, this is a rather harmless addiction…it’s an addiction still the same.

i went to the library today to check out 1 book (which they didn’t have because someone else had already checked it out), told myself that i could get 3 max,  ended up walking out with 5 (one is sewing related though), & honestly, had at least 2 more that i considered getting. that’s more books than i can actually read given the “check-out” window & still i wanted them all!

i currently have 2 ebooks checked out from the library & i’m waiting on 3 more.  i have 2 books on my bedside table & 6 books in my office…all purchased within the last 2 months…all waiting to be read.

and then there’s my kindle which has several books on it that are either in various stages of being read or that i haven’t even started. given my current “book supply” & the rate at which i’m currently reading, i could read for the rest of this year & all of next year without repeating a book or buying a new one. and yet, i can’t stop buying new ones or checking them out!

my name is nori. and i am addicted to books.

is there even a support group for that?!? and can i borrow some of their books if there is?
