took the day off from laundry, house-cleaning, sewing, & crafting so that i could go to the beach.
i love that we live near the coast,
i love that we are close enough for me to drop the kids at school in the morning & have my toes in the water about an hour later.
and my hope for today was to spend the majority of my “kid-free” time soaking up the sun, sounds, & breezes of being oceanside. unfortunately that wasn’t quite how it turned out.
yes, i did make it to the beach in isle of palms…but i did not spend more than an hour there.
i couldn’t…it was just too hot & there was no breeze.
and i foolishly thought i could go in shorts & a tank top since i was only going to be walking along the shore.
turns out i should’ve worn my bathing suit since being in the water was the only way to stay cool.
oh well, i was still able to take lots of pictures…including a couple of a shark that was swimming near the shore. (it looked to be a bonnet head, he wasn’t that big, i used my big zoom lens so i didn’t get that close to him, & i was more surprised than scared to see it) and i got to have lunch at my favorite hot dog place…so all ended well. and i learned the lesson that just because you’re near the ocean, you can’t expect there to always be a breeze!
